LS ELECTRIC and LG U+ Join Hands to Expand Smart Factory Business

LS ELECTRIC entered a partnership with LG U+ to expand its smart factory construction business targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Korea.

On February 2, LS ELECTRIC announced that it had signed a business agreement with LG U+ to expand the smart manufacturing innovation business for SMEs at its LS Yongsan Tower.
 
In attendance at the signing ceremony were Kwon Bong-hyeon, COO of LS ELECTRIC's Automation CIC (Company-In-Company), Lim Jang-hyeok, head of Corporate New Business Group at LG U+, among other officials, and they discussed ways to cooperate in penetrating the market tailored to domestic small and medium-sized manufacturers by applying LG U+'s next-generation communication technology to Tech Square, a smart factory platform created by LS ELECTRIC.
 
LS ELECTRIC’s Tech Square is a platform that enables building smart factories properly through services optimized for manufacturing companies, such as expert mentoring, while also providing customized services such as ▲ Life cycle mentoring, ▲ Supplier matching, ▲ Project management, and ▲ Maintenance.
 
With this agreement, LS ELECTRIC will provide the enterprise-centered roadmap, mentoring, and enterprise matching services based on its know-how in building a smart factory in Cheongju, which was selected as a “Lighthouse” factory by the World Economic Forum (WEF), and high capability to operate Tech Square.
 
Based on its communication network, LG U+ plans to provide solutions at optimal cost effectiveness, such as manufacturing data acquisition, fault monitoring and diagnosis, and security, that SMEs are struggling with due to cost issues.
 
COO Kwon Bong-hyeon at LS ELECTRIC ‘s Automation CIC, explained, "We expect that LG U+'s communication-based smart factory operation technology combined with the world’s highest-caliber smart factory construction and operational know-how attributed to LS ELECTRIC will produce great synergy. We will keep bolstering cooperation with all partners to grow into the smart-factory total-service company.”
 
Lim Jang-hyeok, head of LG U+’s New Corporate Business Group, said, “Cooperation with LS ELECTRIC will serve as an opportunity to introduce our excellent solutions to more SMEs. We plan to contribute to smart manufacturing innovation in domestic factories by combining the platforms, solutions, and network capabilities of both companies.”
